Tour Golf Format

Tour Golf combines team match play, individual Stableford scoring, captaincy bragging rights and in-tour handicap adjustments across a series of rounds.

Step 1

Captains and Teams

The two highest individual Stableford scorers at each event earn the right to become captains for the following year's tour.
Each captain gets to choose their team name and team colour, giving every event its own identity and a fresh rivalry.
Once the captains are confirmed, the remaining players are drawn at random to create the two tour teams.

Step 2

Team Match Play

The main team competition is played Ryder Cup style across the tour.
The format includes pairs better ball match play, followed by singles match play on the final day.
Each match is worth points towards the overall team score, and the team with the most points at the end of the event wins the trophy.

Step 3

Individual Leaderboard

Alongside the team competition, every player also competes in the individual Stableford leaderboard.
Stableford scores from each round are added together across the event to produce the overall individual standings.
The player with the highest combined total at the end of the tour is crowned individual champion.

Step 4

Handicap Reviews

To keep the competition moving and stop anyone running away with it, handicaps are reviewed after each round.

These adjustments apply to the player's playing handicap for the rest of the event, but only for the individual Stableford element. Team match play handicaps remain separate.

Leaderboard Cuts

The top three players on the individual leaderboard receive playing handicap cuts for the remaining individual rounds.

1st place: -3 shots
2nd place: -2 shots
3rd place: -1 shot

Leaderboard Increases

The bottom three players on the individual leaderboard receive playing handicap increases.

Bottom place: +3 shots
Second bottom: +2 shots
Third bottom: +1 shot
